Full-Time Service-Learning

Choose to participate in a full-time service-learning program or add service-learning to an ISA study abroad program.

Each program option has its own unique benefits and advantages.
Critical reflection is a required component for all ISA Service-Learning program options. Therefore, all students will be enrolled in our service-learning course through Schoology, our Learning Management System. Coursework includes written assignments, group discussions with your resident staff, and live, virtual discussions allowing you to connect with ISA service learners around the globe. More information about the course components and academic credit options can be found in the Program Overview.

Full-Time Service-Learning

Our full-time service-learning programs allow you to focus solely on your service-learning experience. All programs start with a bridging cultures orientation and introduction to your host organization before starting your 4, 6 or 8-week program.

On average, you will spend between 20-25 hours per week at your host organization. When you are not at your host organization or engaged in critical reflection, you are free to participate in ISA cultural activities, explore your host city and country, or just relax in your new home.

Please note that ISA excursions are optional for full-time service-learning participants. We will inform you of excursions occurring during your program dates which you can choose to participate at an additional cost.

Highlights of full-time service-learning programs:

  • 8-week programs start in January or February and September
